HR Straight Talk About Tomorrow's New Normal

What a ride we’ve all been on so far!  COVID-19 has totally changed our landscape and our way of relating.  Social distancing (or really, physical distancing) has taught us to respect personal space for safety reasons rather than for the sake of propriety. Being aware of the needs of others has topped our lists.

And while we’re all focused on the challenges of now…we need to remember there’s a tomorrow.  And tomorrow’s needs are going to be very different than yesterday’s needs or even today’s needs.

As a leader, as a co-worker, as a partner, as just a person living in a social world that got turned on its ear, we’re going to have to face demands that none of us has had to face before.

Part of tomorrow’s needs will be learning how to reconnect with our co-workers.  And a lion’s share of our focus must be centered on becoming aware of the needs of others and being brave enough to step out of your comfort zone to meet those needs.

NOW is the time to take control and to stop being controlled by circumstances.

To be the leader that tomorrow’s new normal is going to demand you are going to have to be courageous, dig-deep, and learn how to connect and communicate in ways you never imagined.

Over the next couple of weeks, Elizabeth and I are going to be sending you a few communication and connection tips from our Brilliant Leader Program.  We promise these tips will be short, relative, and easy to put into action.  Be on the look out.

So while you and other business leaders just like you are gearing up to face the challenges of re-opening - YOU can choose to focus on perpetuating connectivity, forging new paths, and giving your new normal a chance to succeed.  Imagine the inspiration you will be and what a brilliant LEGACY you will leave for those around you and for future generations.

Remember, Leadership is not about titles or the corner office. It’s about the willingness to step up, put yourself out there, and to be courageous. The world is desperate for braver leaders. It’s time for everyone to step up.
